Can Tim Hortons Help Lure Canadian Brains Back To Canada?

tim_hortons1.jpgOntario Premier Dalton McGuinty is off to California in an effort to convince some of Ontario's best and brightest minds in biotech to come home. Ontario is suffering from 'brain drain' and as such, attending biotech conventions has become a necessity to help recruit Canadians who left Canada for educational or occupational opportunities abroad. Question: If you're the Premier, what can you do to help re-connect expat Canadians with their roots? Answer: Give them a double-double and a doughnut! Dalton McGuinty has solicited help from Tim Hortons by setting up a kiosk at a biotech convention in San Diego with the idea that the smells and tastes of Timmies will get some ex-Canadian biotech geniuses warm and fuzzy about Canada again.

"I just thought, Tim Hortons and medicare, those are powerful national institutions that resonate with Canadians everywhere," said McGuinty.
This may seem like a crazy idea, but with so many ex-Canadians living in San Diego, why doesn't Tim Hortons just open one up there?
